After taking a year off from competing in the annual Super Boat International Offshore World Championships in Key West, Fla., veteran racer and FB Marine Group co-owner Randy Sweers is returning to compete in the 2018 event, which is set for Nov. 4-11. What’s more, he’ll also take part in the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run.
Sweers plans on racing in the Superboat and Superboat Stock classes in Key West. In Superboat, he’ll throttle his MGI DigitalTechnology/Konica Minolta-backed MTI catamaran with driver Glen Hibbard. (Sweers and Hibbard did not compete in the SBI National Championships in Clearwater, Fla., earlier this month.) While Sweers and Hibbard won’t compete on Wednesday and Friday in the Superboat class, they will run in Sunday’s contest.
